association of pension lawyers constitution overview

The APL is a non-profit making organisation governed by a Constitution. It is run by a Main Committee (described in more detail in the Constitution itself) and a number of Sub- and Regional Committees. If you wish to view the Constitution, please click here. Alternatively, by clicking here you can see details of the various committees’ current members.

The APL is also the sole shareholder in its own operating company, Pension Lawyers Services Limited (“PLSL”), which was established in order to put some of the Association’s affairs onto a more formal and company-based footing.

PLSL is currently used as a vehicle to operate the majority of the Association’s courses and seminars. In time it is anticipated that PLSL will take over a number of the Association’s other functions.

The shareholders in PLSL are the Officers of the Association’s Main Committee. Each of the three issued shares is held on trust by the legal owner for the Association itself.

The directors of PLSL are the current members (including the three Officers) of the Main Committee. The company secretary is Ian Stokes, an accountant, who has been retained by the Association to ensure the smooth operation of PLSL.
